The American Psychological Association (APA) represents 122,000 psychologists, students, and affiliates, primarily in the U.S. Will verify accuracy of sales tax charges, track and reconcile accounts payable, prepaid accounts, and accruals.Īssists as needed for audit and/or information requests, processing payables for related entities, general ledger account reconciliations, bank reconciliations, and other ad hoc requests. Will ensure proper classification of vendors for 1099 reporting, and is responsible for processing check, wire and ACH actions in accordance with set policies and procedures and internal controls. Will communicate with vendors, members, banks, and staff as needed. Responsible for all tasks related to disbursements to vendors, members of governance, award recipients, and employee reimbursements. Must be proficient in the use of accounting software, Microsoft Word and Excel. Must understand the importance of compliance with internal and external policies and regulations, and the importance of good customer service. 5 years of experience in accounts payable may be substituted for degree.Įxperience: Demonstrated understanding of accounting principles, to include bank and ledger account reconciliations. Business Administration, Accounting, Marketing and 1 year related experience. The Specialist is responsible for ensuring that requests for payment are valid, accurate, charged to the appropriate account, properly authorized, sufficiently supported, and paid timely.Įducation: Bachelor’s degree in a business discipline, i.e. APA sets salaries based on several considerations, including years of relevant experience, level of education, and previous staff and/or governance experience at APA.Īccounts Payable Specialist is responsible for processing all cash disbursements to vendors, members of governance, award recipients and employee reimbursements in accordance with established policies and procedures and best practices. Note: APA operates on a 37.5-hour work week with one hour lunch breaks each day.
